About

Heather Cushing is an Advanced Professional Member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders. She has worked as a proofreader, copy editor and pre-press project manager for seven years, specialising in academic publication.

​

Heather was an in-house editorial project manager with a UK typesetting firm for over five years, gaining experience with established publishing houses such as Taylor & Francis, Oxford University Press, Elsevier, Bloomsbury Press and McGraw-Hill, and dealing with freelance copy editors and proofreaders and off-shore typesetting suppliers.

With a BA, MA and extensive research experience in the History of Art, Heather has a broad humanities background and good subject knowledge in the fields of History, Material Culture, Art and Architecture, Classical Studies, Archaeology, Religious Studies, Literature, Philosophy, Social History, Social Sciences and Gender Studies, and has edited widely within these subject areas.

She lives in Suffolk with her husband and three sons, where she enjoys reading (for pleasure as well as for work), cooking, painting and visiting the seaside, sometimes alone, sometimes accompanied by an entourage of small boys.
